Our Activities

Keep up with our dogs and their activities.  They go everywhere with us and keep us busy!

Heading to the races.

The dogs come with us almost everywhere, including to stock car races.  Hiccup has become our little mascot, he likes to sit on the car and get pet and treats from racing fans - he is pretty sure they are HIS fans, and he's probably right!  We have a portable enclosure with shade for them to hang out in when we are at the track working on the car, and they come to the stands with me to watch their dad race (or just sleep through the race under the blankets).  We have had dogs in the past who didn't like the noise but the girls have been going since they were young and they don't mind the noise at all, and Hiccup loves all of the attention.  Plus they all three just like being with their people and like to go for the ride.

A tired puppy is a happy puppy.

Our dogs play hard then they sleep hard.  Sometimes nap positions are interesting.  Hiccup always has a ball nearby, and sometimes even falls asleep with one in his mouth.  Mocha just kind of crashes wherever she is, and then usually someone comes to snuggle with her.  Kimber likes to bury herself under a blanket or at least stick her nose in the corner of the bed.  In the evenings, when they get enough of fetch, Kimber likes to come snuggle up against a person to sleep.  When Mocha starts to fade, she fights it like a toddler but finally goes to find a corner of the couch away from everyone else.  And Hiccup NEVER gets enough of fetch, but will just hold on to the ball until he falls asleep.  These guys keep life entertaining!

Pretty Purple Polkadot Puppies

We have a mulberry tree in our back yard.  This time of year it drops lots of very juicy ripe purple berries in the yard.  That leads to lots of purple polka dots on the pups and black little toe beans.

Fetch!

How fetch works at our house. Hiccup starts it, he loves fetch! If he gets the ball, he brings it right back to be thrown again. He's pretty intense so he has a good chance of getting the ball. Kimber, though, is the best at getting the ball.  She's super fast and can predict where the ball is going and catch it out of the air. But she doesn’t like to give it up to be thrown again, she wants to play tug. She eventually will give the ball to Hiccup to give to a person to throw it again. Mocha doesn’t get the ball very often, she's pretty casual and silly about trying to catch it and doesn't really care about the ball all that much.   But when she does get it, her game is chase. She won’t bring the ball back to a person, she wants the other dogs to chase her to get it, so she makes big circles around the yard or the living room, showing everyone she has the ball. Eventually one of the other dogs gets it from her and we start all over again.Love these silly ittle goof balls.

Off to the races with Hiccup

Hiccup got to be the only dog to go with us to the races this weekend.  The girls stayed home with the most amazing dog sitter ever.  He loved having all of the attention to himself, and played SO much fetch.  It's all dirt in the pits and he loved getting dirty chasing balls and hanging out with us.

Mocha and Agility

Mocha and I have been taking agility classes for about a year now and she loves it.  She's so smart and so strong, she has a blast and can already handle all of the contacts with ease except for the weave poles, we are still working on figuring those out.  She would be really great at it if I knew what I was doing!  Most of the time when we mess it up it's because I got the cue wrong.  But she just plays right along anyway and keeps on going.  This has been so much fun and a great bonding experience for us, and she's old enough now that we can start signing her up for novice competitions.

Manners, manners, manners.

The girls get a little too excited about visitors to the house so we've been working on some manners, including a place stay.  Hiccup has no idea what he's doing, but he really loves to hang out with his girls and there are treats involved, so he's in!
